Before you start

Let the brownies cool completely before decorating. Draw the ghosts freehand with a piping bag, or spread them on parchment and freeze before placing.

Our own version inspired by the reel of @birchberry_co: the creator's exact quantities are not published on the web, so these amounts are ours.

Ghost Brownies

Ingredients

Step by step

  1. Heat oven to 180°C (350°F) and line the tin. Melt chocolate and butter together.
  2. Whisk sugar, milk, flaxseed and vanilla; stir in the chocolate mix, then fold in flour, cocoa, baking powder and salt.
  3. Bake 22–25 minutes until set at the edges with a slightly soft centre. Cool completely.
  4. Pipe white chocolate ghosts on top, let set, add dark chocolate eyes and mouths and scatter the stars. Cut into squares.
